Still Moving...

We are about halfway finished with moving. We got quite a bit done over the weekend, but we still have a lot left to do (and we have to be out by Thursday). I am the worst procrastinator.

Sorry for the lack of pictures lately. I've just been super busy with moving and everything else. Once we get everything moved and get settled, I will have more time for pictures and posts. Until then...

New Apartment Progress

There's not really a whole lot of progress to speak of. We have to be out of the old apartment by Thursday, and we've only moved a few things. We are going to have to spend all weekend packing and moving. Fun! :/

Undecided

Today, I have an appointment to meet with someone in Admissions at a local Cosmetology school. I have always had an interest in doing hair and makeup, but I never really gave Cosmetology school much thought, until recently. My interest in the field has been growing lately, and I thought it wouldn't hurt just to speak with someone.

I really don't think I would be able to enroll right away, though. They offer night classes, but working from 8-5 then going to school from 5:45-9:45 would leave me with almost no time with Oliver (except on weekends).

Maybe it would be worth it in the end, but as of right now, I don't think I could do it.

I think I'm going to give it some time. Maybe in a year or so, if I still want to do it, and it feels right, I'll go for it.

15 Month Doctor Visit

Today was Oliver's 15 month check-up, and he was not a happy camper!
While waiting to be called, he fell and hit his head, so by the time he got back to the room, he was beyond pissed.
But he is 24 pounds, and in the 70th percentile in weight.
My big boy!

A Day with My Sister

Since I am off today for Mardi Gras, Oliver and I are spending the day with my little sister, Natalie.
We had a late lunch at Brooklyn's and now we are (supposed to be) packing some of my junk and cleaning the apartment.
I also got to see one of my best friends, Keli, who I almost never see anymore.

Rare Moments of Quiet

As much as I love hanging out with Oliver, it is good to get a few minutes to myself sometimes.

On Mondays and Tuesdays, Oliver spends the day with Fernando's father. Fernando picks him up when he gets off work, so he normally doesn't get home until between 6 and 7 PM.
That means one or two hours completely to myself.

While I'd like to say I use this time to clean and organize the apartment, exercise, or anything else I should be doing, I usually just watch TV or lie in bed and browse the internet.
My [messy] sanctuary

Today, I'm catching up on a few of my favorite blogs. And eating this delicious ham sandwich:

This is as gourmet as I get, folks.

In other news, I heard on the radio that two bands I love (Smashing Pumpkins & The Wallflowers) are playing at a music festival down here in May. Now, normally I'm not a big partying person, but I am not going to miss this for anything. Plus, the festival is my 21st birthday weekend. I'm excited!

Oh, and I almost forgot! I'm gonna have a niece! My sister-in-law (due in May) recently found out she's going to have a girl, which meant I get to go shopping for baby girl clothes! Yay!

Mardi Gras Weekend

It's Mardi Gras season down here in the South, and while many people were out and about at parades, I spent the day with these fellas:

(Please excuse the mess in the background. I'd like to say it's not always like that, but I'd be lying.)

I decided not to partake in the Mardi Gras festivities this year, because I think Oliver is still a little too young to enjoy hanging around a bunch of drunk people and being pelleted by beads.
Maybe next year.

I recently found out that my sister and Greyson will be moving up to Connecticut to live with Greyson's dad. It breaks my heart to think that Oliver will have to grow up without his cousin, who has been there since he was born, and is his best friend.
Maybe I'm being a little selfish, but I really wanted Oliver and Greyson to grow up together and be as close as my sisters and I were.
Plus I'm going to miss him a lot, too. (And he's gonna miss his Aunt Zee)
:'(
She has not set a date to move, yet, so I'm just trying not to think about it too much right now.

Sleepy Saturday

I really do live for the weekend.
I never really understood that term until I started working full-time.
I almost never get anything important done on the weekends, but they are still the most enjoyable days of the week.
Today, Oliver and I slept until noon, rolled out of bed, watched some TV, took a bath, and then waited for Daddy to get home so we could go out to eat Mexican and go grocery shopping at Walmart.
We really eat entirely too much Mexican food.

Fernando works at a company which contracts workers for casinos in the area. They recently got a new account with another local casino, so he has been working more than usual. Sadly, that doesn't mean more money. But it does mean I can sleep in until noon.

We're slowly trying to move all of our things to the new apartment. Except for about half of it that Fernando wants me to get rid of. It's a daunting task, though, and looking at all the mess that needs to be cleaned up and/or boxed is just too discouraging. So here I am, typing away about the things I need to do, instead of actually doing them.

Oh! And here's a cute picture of Oliver:

Natalie Grace

You are 14 years old today, and the most beautiful 14 year old I have ever seen. You are really growing up.
You are smart, funny, and so talented. Laynee and I sometimes joke around and say we're jealous because you got all the good looks and the body and the pretty red hair.
Four years ago on your 10th birthday.

Even though Laynee and I are only a year apart, YOU were my best friend growing up. You and I had some sort of weird crazy sisterly bond (and I'd like to think we still have it).
I miss having sleepovers and doing our makeup and having photoshoots in the backyard.

I know we still see each other all the time, but sometimes I wish I still lived at home so you could crawl in my bed with me on nights when you got scared and we could joke and laugh and Dad would yell at us to be quiet and go to sleep.
I know we fought sometimes, and we still do, but it doesn't matter. We always make up five minutes later, anyway, and are back to being best sissies/friends again.

I know 14 can be a sucky age and middle school is hell and girls are bitches. But just know that it will be over soon, and everything will be better. And always remember that I am here for you if you need anything, or if you just want someone to talk to.

I love you bigger than the entire universe.

Lazy Days

Today was pretty unproductive. Don't you hate it when you have so much to do, that you end up doing absolutely nothing?

After work, Oliver and I spent most of the afternoon at my mom's house listening to music with my little sister.
I can't believe she will be 14 tomorrow.

We ended up having dinner at Raising Cane's because, well, I just didn't feel like cooking.
Here's an IG pic of my boys tonight:

Baby Smiles

Know what's the best thing ever?
Baby Smiles

I can still remember when Oliver was teeny tiny, before he knew how to smile. I would smile and talk and laugh at him and blow raspberries on his little round belly, trying so hard to coax a little smile out of him. I just couldn't wait to see that smile. And then one day, a big gummy grin spread across his face, and it hasn't gone away since.
I LOVE that smile.
I swear is the source of 99% of my happiness. When I can see that joy on my son's face, that is when I know I am doing something right.

I wish I could capture every single one.

P.S. Sorry for all the Instagram photos. They were the best ones I had.

A Day With the Boys

My nephew, Greyson, came over to the new apartment today to play with Oliver. Greyson and Oliver are so hilarious when they get together. They are five and a half months apart in age, so they get along very well (usually). When Oliver was little, Greyson used to beat up on him a lot, but now that Oliver is older, he is getting his revenge. One minute they'll be hugging and kissing each other, and the next they are on the floor wrestling. They couldn't be more opposite, but when they are together it is always entertaining!

Moving Day!

Okay, more like moving month. We finally got the keys to the new apartment, and I am so happy! I don't think anyone loves moving as much as I do. Something about starting over in a new place excites me (even if it's only a few blocks from the old place). Oliver really seems to like his new room, too. I think we are going to love it here.
